Overview of Wire Drawing Die Materials

Common wire drawing die materials include:

  • Natural Diamond: Highest hardness, but scarce resources and high cost.
  • PCD polycrystalline diamond: Cost-effective and widely applicable
  • CVD Diamond: Highest purity, superior performance
  • Cemented Carbide: Low cost, suitable for rough pulling

Selection Criteria

1. Wire Material

3. Production Batch

  • Mass production: CVD diamond, longest service life

  • Small Batch / Prototype: Tungsten carbide, lowest cost
